The Kitchen Storefront: How Da Dabba Designed One Page That Sells a Kitchen
By Cai
How the Da Dabba kitchen storefront went from a poster page to one menu-first template every kitchen wears, and how the customer home orders by the day.
Da Dabba is a [meal delivery marketplace](/features): licensed kitchens cook, you [pick a meal for a day](/calendar), and it comes to your door or you pick it up. Lots of cuisines, lots of kitchens, one place to plan what you eat. This is the version real customers order on right now. A few of them, which turns out to be exactly enough to find out everything you got wrong. What follows is the design side of how it got here, in screenshots of the two pages a customer actually lives on: the kitchen storefront first, then the customer home. Every picture is the real app, run from the code as it stood at the time. Designed and built by [Cai](https://shashrvacai.com/portfolio).
## The kitchen storefront: one page that sells a kitchen A kitchen storefront on Da Dabba is the kitchen's own page: its menu by date, its meal packs, its colours and a checkout, at a link the kitchen can hand to anyone. [Kitchen Corner](/kitchen/kitchen-corner), [Nutrifella](/kitchen/nutrifella), [Aahar](/kitchen/aahar), [Fit Boss](/kitchen/fit-boss) and [Taste2Home](/kitchen/taste2home) each have one, and every ad, Google search and WhatsApp forward lands there.
[Image: The first kitchen storefront design that stuck: a full-bleed poster page in the kitchen's own colours.]
[Image: Three steps to the template: the whole menu down one page, then one question first (one meal, or meal packs), then each day its own drawer.]
The poster page looked like a restaurant. It also asked a lot. A visitor met the hero, the packs, the calculator and every dish at once, and had to work out the rules alone. So the page learned to ask one thing first, then to open a day at a time, then to say plainly when you can still change an order. The last pass took the poster away entirely.

[Image: The same job, before and now: the poster page on the left, the menu-first storefront template on the right.]
One template, and each kitchen wears its own colours on it. Compare [Kitchen Corner](/kitchen/kitchen-corner) with [Nutrifella](/kitchen/nutrifella).

[Image: Three storefront details: days across the top, the strip that stays dark as you scroll, and search under the filters.]
[Image: Two more details: the dish card with a photo, what is in it, one price and a plus, and the cart by day with checkout one tap away.]
## Try it yourself Hungry rather than curious? [Pick a meal for one day](/calendar). No subscription, no app to download. Run a licensed kitchen? This storefront can be yours. [Start here](/start), put your menu up, and your page wears your colours like the ones above.
## The customer home: order meals by the day The Da Dabba home is a row of your upcoming days, and each day shows what you have booked or what you could eat from [this week's calendar](/calendar).
[Image: The first customer home design that stuck: a big Hello, a wallet and a count of meals and orders.]
[Image: Three steps to the day rail: a calendar paged one day at a time, then your days in a row, then an empty day that asks you to pick a meal.]
Each step fixed the thing in the way. Paging through one day at a time hid the week. A row of days showed it, but an empty day was a dead box with nothing to press, so it got a button. The meal packs went from one shelf per kitchen to one shelf for everyone, led by the price per meal.
[Image: The Da Dabba customer home today on a phone: your days left to right, then refer a friend and save with a meal pack.]
[Image: Three details of the customer home: the rail of days, a booked day with each meal tagged Paid, and the day sheet listing every kitchen cooking that day.]
Short walk-throughs of all of this live on the [how-to page](/how-to).
Before: picking meals on a calendar
Today: plan your meals by the day
## Where it stands The two pages a customer touches most now do the one job each was built for. The home plans meals by the day across every kitchen. The storefront sells one kitchen on its own terms. Everything after this is making them better for the people already using them. The earlier part of the story, in short videos, is [the build log](/blog/the-build-log-da-dabba-in-eleven-short-videos). For how a meal actually reaches you, read [how a tiffin gets to your doorstep](/blog/how-a-tiffin-gets-to-your-doorstep), and for the food itself, [the diets you can order on Da Dabba](/blog/diets-you-can-order-on-da-dabba). Everything else Da Dabba does is on the [features page](/features). So: [order a meal for a day](/calendar), or if you cook for a living, [get a storefront for your kitchen](/start).
